About India eVisa

The India eVisa is an online travel authorization introduced by the Government of India to make visiting the country easier, faster, and more convenient for international travelers. The entire procedure is digital, and applicants receive their approved eVisa directly through email. When arriving in India, travelers only need to carry their valid passport along with a printed copy of their eVisa approval.

India eVisa Categories and Their Purposes

The India eVisa system includes five main categories designed to meet different travel needs:

e-Tourist Visa

This category is meant for travelers visiting India for tourism, sightseeing, casual visits to friends or relatives, short-term yoga programs, or recreational activities.

e-Business Visa

This visa is intended for individuals traveling to India for business meetings, trade activities, exhibitions, commercial negotiations, and related professional purposes.

e-Medical Visa

This category is for international visitors coming to India for medical treatment in recognized or specialized hospitals and healthcare centers.

e-Medical Attendant Visa

This visa is for family members or attendants accompanying a patient who is traveling on an e-Medical Visa. A maximum of two attendants can accompany one medical patient.

e-Conference Visa

This category is for foreign delegates attending government-approved or internationally recognized conferences, seminars, and similar events held in India.

Facilities Available Under India eVisa

The India eVisa system offers several convenient features designed to improve the travel experience for international visitors.

The entire application process is completed online, removing the need for travelers to visit any embassy or consulate. Several eVisa categories are available, allowing visitors to choose the visa type that matches their purpose of travel. Once the application is processed, the approved eVisa is sent directly to the applicant’s email for easy access.

India allows eVisa holders to enter through 28 authorized international airports and 5 major seaports, giving travelers flexible and convenient entry options. For departure, visitors can leave the country through any approved Immigration Check Post across India. Medical travelers also benefit from the option to bring up to two attendants under the e-Medical Attendant Visa category. Additionally, travelers are permitted to combine activities that fall under multiple visa categories, except in the case of the e-Conference Visa, which is limited to conference-related and tourist activities only.
